Once upon a time, nightclubbing in Boca Raton was a pretty simple affair. Clubs such as the Wildflower, Bounty Lounge and Lakeside still draw crowds, but a new crop of nightclubs has recently popped up around town.
On the downside, most Boca clubs have a narrow musical menu and unimaginative deejays. Even the oh-so-hip alternative rock nights at Heaven could use a facelift. Here are some of the best club in Boca to spend splendid nights and evenings.
1. Sakred Nightclub
If you’re looking for a nightclub in Boca Raton, Sakred Nightclub is the place to go. It’s a popular spot for people who like to dance, and they have live DJs. It also has a large dance floor and plenty of seating.
The club’s past troubles drew protesters, and it was the subject of several police reports involving shots fired and brawls. Former Boca Raton Mayor Ron Abrams said he’s fine with the club operating as a nightclub, but wouldn’t allow nudity or a strip joint.
The club’s new name reflects its “flirty and flirtatious” vibe, according to the company that operates it. It will feature a rotating lineup of top-notch DJs and promoters. One upcoming event will feature DJ Snoopadelic, who is also bringing South Florida’s own Kat Lane along with him.
2. The Funky Biscuit
The Funky Biscuit is a musician’s home away from home and the ultimate listening room for music aficionados. The club hosts national, regional and local artists nightly while serving dinner seven nights a week.
The venue features a wide selection of cocktails, beer and wine paired with a delicious menu. The bar is also known for its weekly specials and event hosting. The upscale lounge is the perfect place to enjoy drinks and appetizers while watching live entertainment. The dress code for this place is strictly enforced, so make sure you wear appropriate clothing.
Boca West Country Club is an exclusive, family-oriented country club that provides members with unparalleled amenities and services. Its lush, manicured grounds are home to several world-class restaurants and clubs and offer a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Its upscale golf course and tennis courts are among the best in South Florida, and its extensive aquatics center offers year-round fun for everyone. The club also offers its members a full range of social and family-friendly events. Moreover, the club has a state-of-the-art fitness center and several pools.
3. Heaven
Boca Raton is home to some of South Florida’s finest country clubs. These exclusive clubs boast golf courses, tennis courts and exquisite dining experiences. They also offer social events and family fun. The most prestigious club in the area is Heaven. This lavish club is a great place to enjoy a relaxing evening or have a cocktail with friends.
Once upon a time, nightclubbing in Boca was pretty much limited to hitting the Wildflower, Bounty Lounge or Lakeside. But in recent years, an array of new entries have popped up, drawing crowds from Miami and West Palm Beach.
One downside to the Boca scene is its narrow musical menu and unimaginative deejays. Sadly, nearly every outlet slathers on a version of I’m Free, that catchy club ditty from the Soup Dragons that was a Billboard dance smash 15 months ago. Likewise, the psychedelia decor rolled out for alternative rock nights at outlets like Heaven could use a facelift.
4. Club Boca
Located in the heart of Boca Raton, Club Boca is the place to be for those who love golf and luxury living. This exclusive country club offers members the opportunity to enjoy an array of social and golfing events in an intimate setting with just under 450 member families. Members also enjoy access to seven world-class dining areas and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
There’s a night for every age group at this swank, modern, and plush club. On Thurs nights, there’s a bikini contest and Wipe Me Down; on Sat night, it’s Champagne Night (for older teenagers), and on Mercury Friday, DJs spin hip-hop, reggaeton, and Top 40 music. A strict dress code — no athletic wear, baggy or oversized clothing, and no head gear — is enforced.
There were a few noise complaints when Boca Gold was operating, but there have been none since the new Club Boca opened its doors, Bulkeley said. Crowell and his partners plan to hire bartenders to handle drinks and serve food, but no dancers, he added. They’re looking to resurrect the “club atmosphere” that drew crowds during the club’s heyday, when it was known as the Wildflower, Bounty Lounge, and Lakeside.
