The Course
Carolina Golf Club has a 27-hole Fred Couples signature golf course, winding through rich Low country terrain. The club’s 100 acres of wetlands are dedicated to upholding the principles of environmental stewardship, and golfers can enjoy several dramatic views of the Lockwood Folly River.
The course features longleaf pine forests and sandy waste areas, as well as dramatic elevation changes. The greens are large and undulating, placing a premium on shot making.
Located about 15 minutes north of Pinehurst on Airport Road, The Carolina is a wonderful natural course with good-width corridors of mature pines and attractive golf features. Playing at over 7,000 yards from the tips, The Carolina tests even the most skilled golfer.
A variety of amenities are available for members, including a well-stocked Pro Shop, four hard-surface tennis courts, a 25-meter swimming pool positioned just across a lagoon from the Atlantic Ocean and regulation greenswards providing a picture-perfect venue for the genteel sport of croquet.
The Club
Carolina Golf Club is a private club with a classic and carefully restored 1929 Donald Ross-designed course. It also features a Southern plantation-style mansion, casual and elegant dining rooms, and banquet facilities.
The clubhouse is a well-designed space with a state-of-the-art fitness centre and a full-service Pro Shop. You’ll be able to find the latest in men’s and women’s apparel, a large selection of bags, balls, clubs, drivers, fairway woods and ball markers.
The club’s signature green is the first of its kind in North Carolina. The club’s “magic” green, shaped to mimic the wavy effect of real wetlands, was rated as one of the best in the region by Golf Magazine. Other top-of-the-line amenities include a 25-meter swimming pool and four hard-surface tennis courts, all of which are conveniently located within earshot of the ocean.
The Facilities
Located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, this golf club has some big-time amenities. Besides the aforementioned golf course, there is also a swimming pool and four hard surfaced tennis courts. In addition, they have a well-stocked pro shop and a nice selection of tees and equipment. The staff is friendly and the putting greens roll true. I have been here many times, so I can say that the facilities are as good as they get, and this is one of the better conditioned courses in the area. During my last visit in August the course was in great shape and was very well maintained. I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a nice sized course to play. It is a bit pricey, but the quality of the course is worth it. The best part is that you won’t have to drive all the way back into town for your next round.
The Membership
Carolina Golf Club offers a number of membership options to meet your needs. These include a Regular, Intermediate, Junior and Social memberships that feature access to the clubhouse, tennis courts, outdoor pool and golf course. Members also enjoy discounts on green fees, practice facilities and other amenities.
Young Professional and Corporate Golf Memberships are a great option for young professionals and businesses looking to get involved in the community. These memberships include a discounted membership initiation fee and monthly dues until the primary member reaches the age of 40, and a full calendar of golf and social events. These memberships are also non-transferable, and the designees must be billed monthly and pay any additional charges that apply.
